miNYstories or: How I learned to stop worrying and love GarageBand

For one of my final projects this semester, I collaborated with classmates to create 2 short multimedia narratives (i.e., podcasts) about NYC cleverly coined, miNYstories. This was the second semester of this project, and our inspiration piece was From the Mixed Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. In the book there are many references to the Italian Renaissance. In keeping with this idea of a revival of literature and art, my group decided to focus our podcasts on New York’s Harlem Renaissance.

After a semester of sifting through the wealth of information on the subject, a day trip to Harlem (which included a visit to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture!) and countless hours of editing in GarageBand, I not only have a new found respect for filmmakers, but am pleased to present the fruits of our labor. Enjoy!:

Not bad for a first foray into podcasting, eh?
